Cybersecurity Awareness Training Conducted at Artvin Çoruh University

The "Cybersecurity Awareness Training," organized by the Information Technology Department of Artvin Çoruh University, was delivered with the participation of our university staff and presented by Lecturer Erdoğan İNCESU. The training aimed to enhance the awareness of university staff regarding information and cybersecurity and was successfully concluded with an engaging and interactive presentation.

Training Objectives and Content

The training covered the following topics in detail:

  • Safe and conscious internet usage,
  • Phishing attacks and preventive measures,
  • Recognizing social engineering attacks,
  • Creating strong passwords and account security,
  • Secure online shopping and data sharing.

Participants were provided with up-to-date information on current cybersecurity threats and practical measures to counter them. Furthermore, the training included concrete examples and case studies to increase awareness.

Impact Assessment with Pre-Test and Post-Test Results

The pre-test and post-test assessments conducted before and after the training clearly demonstrated the positive impact of the program on the participants. According to the test results, there was a significant increase in participants' cybersecurity knowledge and awareness.

Notable improvements were observed in the following questions from the pre-test and post-test evaluations:

  1. Do you think you have knowledge about safe and conscious internet usage?
    Before the training, only 34% of participants believed they were knowledgeable about safe internet usage. After the training, this rate increased to 57.2%.

  1. Are you aware of phishing attacks?
    Awareness of phishing attacks rose from 20.6% in the pre-test to 54.7% in the post-test, highlighting the effectiveness of the training in this area.

  1. Do you have knowledge about social engineering attacks?
    Before the training, 39% of participants indicated awareness of such attacks, which increased to 71.1% in the post-test.

  1. Do you have knowledge about creating secure passwords?
    While 70.9% of participants claimed to know secure password creation methods before the training, this figure reached 91.8% afterward.

 

Training Evaluation

Feedback collected from participants at the end of the training clearly demonstrated the positive effects of awareness initiatives. Participants expressed that they became more capable of protecting both their personal and institutional data effectively with the knowledge they gained.

As the Information Technology Department of Artvin Çoruh University, we believe that cybersecurity awareness significantly contributes to our university's overall information security policy.
